Prepare for Opera: Explore classical operatic repertoire in this dynamic workshop with an experienced tutor and a professional accompanist. Learn which styles suit your particular voice-type. There is no formal audition but you must have at least four years’ classical vocal tuition (minimum Grade 6 standard) and be able to learn new repertoire quickly, and sing in a variety of languages (principally Italian, French, German, English)
Stagecraft for singers: (Nov, Feb) workshop for singers wanting to develop their stage technique and performance skills in order to become more proficient on the stage. Please note that this course is open to singers in any genre, so there will be singers from rock, pop, jazz and musical theatre background as well as classical.
Opera arias: a masterclass-style practical workshop in which students sing and study opera arias with a particular focus and concentration on beauty of tone and lyricism. You will be expected to practise regularly between classes, ideally at least an hour per day, and to sing from memory by the end of the course. Audition required.
Opera scenes: for singers who have substantial classical singing and stage experience, to work in small groups to prepare scenes for performance. Details to be released prior to the start of the course in May 2020.
